Yippee! Congratulations, and I hope you get an appointment soonest!

But check your attitude. While it's true that there are a fair number of pdocs with delusions of adequacy, there are also a lot of really knowledgeable, genuinely caring pdocs out there. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, no matter how hard that is.

And I say that not to play Mary Sunshine, but for your own protection. It's not as it should be, but as someone who goes in scared -- based on prior experiences -- I can tell you that my fear has been counted against me. I do tell them, "gee, you know, I've had some bad experiences, and I've gotten a bit scared of doctors by now -- please respect that, and bear with me. I will be as honest as I can be, and you don't have to take it personally, but please understand that I am frightened." That gets written up as "personality disorder" or "hypersensitive" or "intolerant of medication effects" or whatever. And it doesn't help with the communication.

I'd advise you, as much as you can, to walk in there giving off the appearance of complete faith that this doctor has the answer for you. I'd also advise that you give him a chance to do his job, which can be hard for me from reading everything on this board. :-) It's hard, but keeping in mind that mileage does vary helps, as does realizing that you can always stop the drug...

In my case, since I"m in the US, I can also tell myself that I can fire the pdoc and ask my OB/GYN or GP to keep prescribing to me. That's harder over there, and I'm sorry it is, for your sake.

Good luck with your appointment, and I'm sure you'll get lots of good thoughts for a really good pdoc.
