I'm in the U.S. and my doctor and I finally agreed to give amisulpride a shot. It's been 10 years of treatment resistance to drugs barring a brief response to low dose Geodon and a very brief response to lithum. I'm trying to treat anhedonia, anergia, and most all other negative symptoms of schizophrenia.
My official diagnosis is residual schizophrenia, but I've never had any positive symptoms except maybe for some mild paranoia. I could be suffering some sort of bipolar depression or I've even thought about dysthimia, but I feel like my life has been put on hold too much for it to be dysthimia. Putting classification aside (I really don't care at this point) I think its a hypodopaminergic problem hence the amisulpride.
My doctor really knew nothing about this drug and it took some discussion to get the OK to try it. Since he didn't know I really didn't get an answer about when to take it. In the AM or PM? Can it be activating? I'm starting out at 25mgs and will move up based on response. Also why is this drug not in the U.S.? It seems like alot of people do well on this drug. I haven't even taken it yet, and I'm worried that if it works I won't be able to sustain a steady supply.
