Is Soma a benzo? Benzos are addictive
but the problem with them is mostly
withdrawal and tolerance build-up.
They may be misused, but I don't know
of any substitute for taking someone down
from anxiety, except alcohol and perhaps
any other sedatives.I think there are extreme views on them
and that is more a political matter than
a medical one.Personally, I would say the *withdrawal* causes
more suffering than the addiction if
the dose is not raised. But if it raised
indefinitely, death may occur. The question i would ask if i were a medical
person, would be "why does this person have
perpetual anxiety?" and what is the best
way to treat it. Because benzos for the occasional anxiety (with the exception of K)
are a very good thing. But perpetual anxiety
is another medical problem possibly not related
to psychiatry but endocrinology (affecting the
brain of course).Squiggles
