Lamictal, Picamilon and the GABA link

Posted by ExcellentCamper on March 12, 2006, at 18:15:50

Anyone have any experience combining these two? I've used 150mg of Lamictal for the last year with some success for unipolar depression. It gets me to about the 65 percent level -- passing but not thriving. I'm trying to augment to increase energy, clarity and motivation. Low-dose selegeline and Cymbalta were the latest casualties in my continuing drug skirmishes. Now I'm really focusing in on Picamilon, the nootropic (smart drug) developed in Russia, consisting of niacin bonded to GABA. My only concern is that Lamictal increases GABA (an inhibitory neurotransmitter) which blocks glutamate. Could I potentially end up with too much GABA and become overly relaxed and sedated? Sages and chairmen of the board please respond.
