First of all thanks to all for answering my thread on Trazodone...excellent advice and opinions!
One thing I did not mention is that I've been taking ativan for 20 plus years-it doesn't work very well anymore for me because of tolerance. But I'm hooked on sh**. Well, before I started Parnate I went thru a 5 wk. wash-out period where the only thing I could take was the ativan and at high doses 8-10 mgs. a day. Once I got on Parnate, almost immediatly I didn't feel the need for ativan anymore because the Parnate wiped out my anxiety. So per my pdoc I began reducing the ativan. Now, I'm not a very patient person, and you guessed it, I was tapering ativan too quickly, the last 3 days I was down to only 3 mgs a day. Here-in lies the problem - I did some study on bezo withdrawel yesterday and if you reduce to quickly you may experience a lot of withdrawel symptoms...like severe insomnia, daytime drowsiness, no energy and much more. Well, yesterday afternoon I decided to increase the ativan from 3mgs to 4 1/2 to 5 mgs. When I took an extra 1 mg. BAM, with in 1/2 hr. I felt much improved, very much improved! Drowsiness was gone and I felt energitic...I could hardly believe the difference! And this morning I took a little more ativan and I'm having a great day. So, I think this was the problem, not the Trazodone or benadryl, because I didn't change my dose of either last night slept great and with added ativan today I feel great! Thanks to everyone for caring.Tyler
