Simply because it is a trivial fact that there are a wide variety of differences among people's psychobiological makeup does not rule out the possibility that there are some drugs classified as "antidepressants" that do not [usually] elevate mood in any commonly accepted sense of the term, thus betraying the patient's trust.
In order for any system of classification to make sense, people must agree on certain fundamental propositions. If everyone's reality is so subjective that this center does not hold, then there is no justification for the existence of psychiatry as a discipline.
Can't have it both ways, I don't think.
