In reply to Starting Parnate in a wk...anyone have any advice?, posted by TylerJ on February 2, 2006, at 16:26:14
> I'll be starting Parnate in one week and would appreciate any "Parnate Vets" out there with any positive advice. I have Chronic treatment resistant dep. w/ social phobia. I'll also be taking ativan and Trazadone at night to help me sleep. Was on Parnate 9 yrs. ago and when it worked it was great...but I suffered afternoon fatigue horribly and insomnia problems as well. After 2 mos. the dose was up to 150 mgs. a day-100 a.m. and 50 early afternoon. And we augmented with cytomel. After 2.5 mos. it pooped out. So any advice, augmentation ideas, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

> TylerJTruckloads of parnate users have used the parnate/trazadone combo, parnate is as u know extremly notrious for causing insomnia.
Aside from the price, which i know it can be dirt cheap, have you not thought about other avenues.
Right now we have the most sleep meds out there we have had in a while.....Ambien xr which "supposedly" isnt a narcotic lunests also doesent hold a narcotic branding.......and im on a very very new one Rezarem which also is non-narcotic.If im not mistaken non of these are in conflict with parnate, and since they are now going the NON NARCOTIC route, one should not have much trouble getting them like the old AMBIEN,in fact docters i believe are encrouged to start using to so called safe sleeping aids more.
I say this cause trazadone is an old DIRTY drug,it does a lot,and personaly i believe if any of these medications are gonna alter parnates effect, trazadone will be it,i mean it alone is a anti depressant so its supposed to have accumaltive effects,no point in ruinging what ur doing with parnate.
