It seems I'm at wit's--and pharma's--end here. After many years of tx, my only option appears to be ECT, which I absolutely do not want.Knowing that my options are becoming limited after being on, literally, every SSRI out there, along with NDRIs, a couple tricyclics, MAOIs, etc., and lithium and a number of meds I can't even remember, I've tried to go it without meds several times over the last couple years, all to no avail.
Now, though my GP has given me Xanax to tide me over, my psychiatrist has decided he cannot re-open my case. I understand, given that he previously told me he didn't think there was a pharmaceutical solution for me, but this has left me hanging at a tough time because I can't get an appointment with the couple docs in my area with real expertise in BP and OCD for at least 6 to 8 weeks. And my GP will not put me on lithium or Lamictal, etc., because it's beyond his comfort zone (which I respect).
I can't go through another 2 months without meds. The Xanax gives some relief on the anxiety end, but that's about it.
Does anyone have any suggestions re: a non-lithium/lamictal regime that I might suggest to my GP until I can get set up with a new pdoc? Possibly something that doesn't require regular blood testing?
I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.
