In reply to feeling low...need some support, posted by dimple on January 28, 2006, at 6:55:06
Hi ...
I know that the weekend is over now, but I wanted you to know that my depression also gets much worse on the weekends.I am a stay-at-home mom with two young kids, and I think my issue is that I HAVE to hang in there during the week to take care of them. But on the weekend when my husband is home, I must subconsciously let everything come to the surface. I feel exhausted, weepy, unable to pull myself together, etc. Then of course I feel guilty that I am not better able to help my husband with the kids and the house while he is home, etc. etc. This also happens in the evenings when he gets home from work.
Our situations may be different, but perhaps we hold a lot in while we are busy at work/home and then it all comes crashing down on the weekend when we are not occupied or obligated to anything or anyone.
I wish I had answers, but mostly I can just offer support, compassion and empathy. Who would have ever thought "Thank God it's Monday?"
I hope you are feeling better today.
Take care,
