I was very recently diagnosed as bipolar, although the
doctor is lingering over whether it is type I or II...
Anyway, I am in a manic phase right now, which I do
not find in the least bit unpleasant, and am really
enjoying the level of productivity after several
months of feeling submerged under water and dumb ie,
not able to work very well!
My doctor has prescribed sleeping meds (Nitrazepam) to
help me sleep as I am currently averaging around 5
hours per night. What I would like to know is if
taking it could possibly kick me back into a depressed
state????? I would much prefer feeling a little
frazzled from lack of sleep to hating life and wanting
to die....
**Also, for those of you familiar with bipolar, what
are the chances that the mania will kick into
hypomania, escalate into psychosis or flip back into
major depression? Is it totally individual and
unpredictable? (I cannot reflect on this myself since
my last depression of 9 months outdid anything I had
experienced earlier- I thought of suicide maybe 20
times a day and self-inflicted injuries, and so I just
don't know where I stand; maybe I was not even bipolar
before...)
Thank you to those who respond!
