I know nothing -- but Effexor can do a few weird things, in very rare cases: it can, as the world now knows, raise blood pressure, which I imagine could possibly cause some discomfort. (Dunno -- I tend to have hyPOtensive problems.) In very rare cases, it apparently has an effect on blood glucose, too. That might be related. And it is an SSNRI, so its effects on NE might have something to do with it.
But frankly? If you've recently started Effexor, less than maybe a month on this dosage, I'd say it's fair to assume that it's related -- and give it some time to see if it goes away. Quite often, side effects that happen when you start a drug or raise a dose will go away in a couple of weeks. (I'm hoping for that myself, since I've got a headache that could stall a train and is probably med related. I *want* this to be a start up effect. %-P )
Obviously, if the pain is so bad that it's affecting your ability to function, that's a different story. Have you called your doctor? If the pain has been going on for a while now, that's probably a good idea.
Good luck. I hope it goes away soon.
