i honestly think that it is some of the subject lines. i usually look for subject lines that i can relate to. the philosopher/academic in me was drawn to your "why" subject line. i was hoping to go into the meaning of life, haha.
the majority of the time, the subject line includes stuff that i know nothing about and therefore i don't feel like i can offer insight.
as far as responding to people with a "thanks," i agree with some of the other posters. sometimes if i am off the board for a few days, my post will disappear and i have to go hunting for it. sometimes i'm too overwhelmed to post. i think you and everyone who answered knows how helpful we can be to each other, otherwise we wouldn't keep responding to each others posts. i think there is a deeper understanding that we help each other out. it seems that the subject lines indicating a crisis state seem to get a lot of attention. if you really need help, change the subject line, repost, and don't take it personally. it happens to all of us. there are some unanswered posts on there from me right now. don't get defeated. we all want to help but i'm sure i'm not the only one who gets on here just thinking about myself and my own crisis.
