Med Emp. Ed_Uk: Avoiding tolerance to stimulants

Posted by temoigneur on December 17, 2005, at 2:48:26

My doctor put me on Dexedrine spanules 20mg in the morning with 30mg prozac. This was to counteract the sedating effects of 5mg zyprexa, 2mg clonazepam, and 325mg Valproic Acid. It has worked beautifully in the sense that I feel a marked change in alertness, and almost a slight mania, potentiation of prozac. I wondered if anyone could suggest an alternative that would work reasonably well that I could switch too, once I gain tolerance to dexedrine. Would Bromocriptine be an option..

Chemically I don't know exactly what dexedrine does, is it known?; I have moderate OCD which is exacerbated horribly by provigil, and in the past Ritalin gave me terrible mood swings, but perhaps with the valproic acid this would be less intense I don't know. Could the valproic acid be contributing to my cognitive foggyness, and slowness? I guess so it's an anti epileptic. I just don't want to think I have two good weeks on dexedrine then back to vegetative subsistance. Any suggestions, what a great day..
