Hello all!
I've been lurking on this board for quite some time, and I thought I check in because I'm having some success on what I'm taking now. Not a magic bullet, but I'm certainly feeling better that I can remember feeling in a long time.
My meds are currently:
Selegiline 5mg tab AM
Klonopin .125mg AM
5-htp 50mg 3x per day
Fish oil 1gram
Xyrem as needed for sleepI've been on this combination now for about two weeks, but I'm thinking more clearly, sleeping better, waking easier. And so far there aren't any side effects to speak of.
Just thought I'd share a positive experience.
I've been lurking on this board for about 4 years now, I think, and I've been right there with all of you through the many trials of meds. Personally I've tried (with limited success in some cases)
Luvox: first psych drug! Went manic, doc realized I had BIPOLAR depression. Ah.
Prozac: kept me buzz buzz buzzing, but not particularly productive.
Zoloft: I'm a male, and I was 21 at the time. Not good, not good at all.
Celexa/Lexapro: apathy, blah blah blah, whatever, blah.
Paxil/Paxil CR: This was the best SSRI for me by far to help with my OCD, but after a while I was once again apathetic. And I was on the lowest dose 12.5mg CR.On the bipolar side of the spectrum:
Lamictal, worked great for two years, but found out that quite by accident, that Klonopin does the same thing. Stabilizes my moods, and at a much cheaper price.
I've tried various other drugs as well. Neurontin (who hasn't), Wellbutrin, Dexedrine, Focalin, Provigil, Abilify, and there are many more, I just can't remember them now.
Thanks for letting my share a small success story. I believe if they do approve that EMSAM patch in February, it may help a lot of people.
Oh, in case you're curious. My dx is BipolarII/OCD (a common combo, I'm told)
Happiness, Joy & Laughter,
Kris
