Dose of Lamactil

Hi
I was wondering what dose people are on for bipolar.
I am on 200mg and have started destabalising again. Someone mentioned that the dose can go up to 400mg but my pdoc says increasing beyond 200mg has no further benifit..
I'm confused..what is everyone else on?
