She mentioned waiting until I was sure I was out of a depressive episode before trying to stop meds. I said I can't remember a time I was ever not depressed at least to some extent. :( So it might be meds for life for me, too. Unless I get pregnant. I assume that's not an issue for you. ;)
Sorry therapy was a bad thing for you. It's not for everyone. It also needs to be a good fit between the therapist, the style of therapy, and the client.
