Can doctors prescribe bi-polar patients drugs like

Can doctors prescribe a bi polar patient meds like concerta or amphetamines. And being bipolar if my doctor could prescribe me such meds(for aDD), what precautions should he take....do I for example have to be on lithium or etc.
