First med free period in two years? I wouldn't worry too much, you might actually feel better for awhile. I got off meds this summer and felt better for a few months, but my anxiety always comes back. It's like a monkey hanging around my neck that I can't shake off!
I wouldn't recommend anything except working out for your washout period. 5-HTP, Valerian, Kava Kava are seriously a waste. I don't think many people have much success with them.
"Atypical" meaning you sleep a lot, eat a lot, feel good when someone compliments you, etc. That's what I have. It's actually pretty typical!
MAOI's aren't the best meds bar none for atypical depression. Most docs think they can cure all of their patients with SSRI's so they won't even bother with MAOI's, which have more risks. Some doctors don't even prescribe it even for those with treatment resistance. Maybe they like us because we come back every week with another check in our hands! I would hope not.....Anyway, I would definitely give Nardil a try. It's a wonderful med.
