Has anyone taken Effexor XR and Cymbalta together?

Posted by awalkingpharmacy on October 11, 2005, at 13:05:34

Hi - I have been suffering from treatment resistant depression for four long years. I have tried almost every combination (cocktails) of SSRI's SNRI's with TCA's and drugs like topomax, risperdal and lithium in an effort to augment the drugs and break this illness.''

I have a really good sense of what isnt working and my dr. is with me on most of my conclusions. I want to take 20mg Cymbalta with a low 75mg dose of Effexor XR. I have been on both of these separately (up to as much as 80mg on Cymbalta and 300 on Eff - augmented with desipramine. Neither could get me over the ""hump". If you can combine SSRI's in treatment why not the SNRI's? Would welcome anybody's thoughts or comments on this idea. I hope everyone here finds their way out of this hell - it is certainly an illness, not a weakness of character!

Thanks.
