I haven't tried sulpiride, but I have tried its close relative amisulpride. Excellent med at low doses for depression, anhedonia, social anxiety. Its effects can be felt the first day, but it really takes about a month for best results.
The problem I found with amisulpride is that it raises prolactin levels, causing sexual side effects and lack of sexual desire. So your concerns are probably well founded, but you may or may not have any problems with it. It's definitely worth a shot.
If it doesn't work out, the good thing is that it doesn't have severe withdrawals like antidepressants do. When I stopped taking it cold turkey, I felt some mild depression and lethargy for a couple days but that's all.
