sdb, To be perfectly honest everything changed after I went through menopause. When I first started valium 5mg at age 24 it allowed me to function so well that i was able to almost stop them. A bite here or there. And ativan for a while just small doses. I was even able to stop all meds for a while when my life was really stable. Then xanax came out and I took .5 three times a day with beer at night. And after a while I cut down to no beer and .l25xanax nightly. Then I moved and married my current husband and we started to drink pretty heavily beer or wine. And my anxiety started to climb along with my xanax use. Little did I know my thyroid was going. That's when I took higher doses and tried klonopin which at the time made me feel suicidal so back to xanax. Then ativan 5-6mg a day. And my first AD. And they worked well. But now I'm back on valium and the tolerance is there. But also my others xanax, klonopin began to make me just tired and not relaxed so now I take l5mg of valium. l0mg when I go to sleep. And when I awaken during the night another 5mg. And sometimes I wakeup with my legs twitching and feel like I don't want to get out of bed. Fondly, Phillipa
