I mean people do take Prozac with the extremly potent serotonion inhibitor Anafranil for OCD."> No, the two diet drugs, Meridia and Phentermine, do not work the same way, as they do not have the same chemical properties. Meridia's accompanying literature is the only one of the diet pills that mentions Serotonin at all. I work at a mental health/substance abuse facility and have discussed this with both the pdocs and nurses, and all were surprised by the way Meridia is said to effect Serotonin release, as this is not a common property for a diet pill.
I did not say that Meredia and phentermine work the same way.I only said that the NE/5HT/DA reuptake inhibitor Sibutramine (Meredia/Reductil) was safe to take with the 5HT reuptake inhibitor Flioxetine (Prozac).(The Serotonin Syndrome)BTW, I took the DA/NE reuptake-releaser Phentermine with Prozac too and is a totally different drug than Meredia.
Also do not forget that the diet pill that was removed from the market Dexfenfluramine affected serotonin (Which I tried)
