There are two problems with this drug:
1. The patent has expired and no drug company would want to invest money to get it approved just to watch generic versions appear overnight.
2. There is no clear indications for its usage. There are no conditions for which it is unusually effective to treat as monotherapy.
Otherwise, as you say, it is a perfect drug. It would make a great adjunct to add to antidepressants.
What is it about ritanserin that you are interested in it?
