I'm not in your shoes, but it would seem to be you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. The trauma of being physically abused by my parent would stick with me for a long time. Have you been in therapy; are you on any meds?

I was blessed with a decent childhood, and I have a good marriage, great kids, but I suffer from anxiety and depression. Go figure.
