Risperdal and alcohol

Posted by Clau99 on August 1, 2005, at 14:09:33

Hi
I'm writing to you because I'm being treated with Risperdal for schizo affective disorder for a 2 year period, my question is on my last episode I took up to 6 mg of Risperdal to make the psychotic flashes go away, for a period of about a month, during which time I had a heavy alcohol intake, I don't know if this had to do with what I'm feeling but I've stopped taking Risperdal for almost 2 months now and I have completely blank feelings, my memory is terrible and I can hardly put my thoughts together, I'm worried about this, I know Risperdal has a side effect of feelingless for a while, because I have experienced with the previous intakes, but now how come is this terrible? and it doesn't seem to go away? I've talked to my doctor, she says it's my body that hasn't gotten rid of the Risperidone completely because of my slow metabolism, another one says that I should take an antidepressant because it has to do with the dopamine effect of the Risperdal, I'm afraid of taking the antidepressant for its side effects, I would like for someone to tell me if they've been through similar situations and what can I do about it?
