Some of us definitely had consequences. I took prescription pain pills recreationally off and on for years. By the the last couple of years it was increasing my depression horribly. Prescription diet pills 30 years ago also caused a slide into depression.
So maybe some people can use without consequences. Not everybody though. You might have been worse off with the illicit drugs.
