When I was younger on occasions I tried amphetamine. It made me feel more alert, focused, very clear mentally and very happy. I used to think I was having the most intelligent conversations and being really witty and such. I later learned that in reality I was talking nonsense (often to no one at all) at a zillion miles an hour and not even noticing. I would never take stimulants now, the idea that I would lose the little control I have over my mind and it would let rip would be scary. Of course I dont know but I have a feeling that if I took amphetamine again I would revert back into something resembling psychosis pretty quickly. There is some chemical evidence to this too, stimulants increase dopamine, antipsychotics decrease it. I know which one I would prefer to take! I have never heard of stimulants being used for the positive symptoms of schizophrenia.
