Depending on what's going on, I'll take the one or more that seem most appropriate. I have a funny thing happening, which I'm discovering is not so unfamiliar. I have bipolar disorder, don't know if it's I or II, probably I. I am extremely, exquisitely sensitive to many meds in the SSRI and othe AD families. I have paradoxical reactions to many meds. I can take gobs and gobs of benzos for as long as I need them and never suffer a withdrawal.
I think there's something kerfluey in my GABA receptors that contributes to the anxiety of bipolar. In short, there are some drugs I only need a few micrograms of, and others I need handfulls. And I kid you not. I can stop them in a New York minute with no backlash (except for sleeping pills). I have certainly developed a tolerance considering the large amounts I can take, but not a dependence.
If there were something else I could take to give me the peace and calmness I so much need at times of stress and frenzy, I'd take that instead. Cause benzos just dull but don't bring soothing. Last I heard, Opium dens were still outlawed.
