This post may be long aplogies before hand.
My Mother who is 54 had a ruptured brain aneurysm and had a suregery and all was well til day four post op. Her level of conciousness dropped into a "light coma" as the term coma isnt used in the medical world anymore i will use that phrase lightly as well.
She bagan to come out of the "coma" and couldnt talk, aspirate, move or actually stay awake for more tahn lil tiny periods of time ( 5 minutes i would say is a max)
She slowly has gaine movement of her right hand and can understand to move her fingers showing 1, 2 3, and so forth. Her left hand is begining to be able to be moved now as well and she can read. She also recently has been given the comand to open her mouth and she will do so sometimes.( mom was a very active woman never held still for more than an hour or two and i beleive that is when she slept at nite)
Anyways they are starting Mom on Provigil ( Modafinil) to help stimulate her brain activity. She is also starting to cry ( YAY she has feelings :D but she is sad :( ) So they also may try a antidepressant. They believe that she doesnt have the motivation that she needs to fully come out of whatever is going on ( the doctors are confused at this time of why she went into a such a state)
I am curious if there is anyone that has had simuliar experiences and if they can help me with the research i am doing on this.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much ~ me
