Can a decrease in Wellbutrin

Posted by Mildred on July 6, 2005, at 15:42:19

result in an increase in weight?

I have been tapering off of Klonopin over the past couple of months, and am almost completely off of it. When I first decreased the Klonopin, I had an evening of mini-seizures so to speak, and some extremely helpful babblers (thanks, electricstorm and mattw84!) provided me with a better taper schedule and suggested that I decrease my wellbutrin while I am tapering. The reason for that was that wellbutrin decreases one's seizure threshold, and that in combination with discontinuing klonopin, that seizure threshhold would be reduced even further.
Now I am on a quarter of a .25 wafer of Klonopin per day (.0625?), and will be finished altogether in another week. It has been an easy taper.
However, I have gained close to 20 lbs! Is it likely that I will lose the weight when I increase the Wellblutrin XL? And should I increase it slowly to avoid possible seizure activity (I have a history of childhood epilepsy)?

Thanks -
Mildred
