That's interesting. I have found that smoking, rather than being a pick-me-up, actually seems to make me feel more depressed, not to mention lethargic, particularly in the morning. I have been smoking since junior high, with a couple of breaks. I started Wellbutrin about 4 weeks ago, and have only been at 200mg for a couple of weeks, but I have found my cravings for cigarettes have significantly lessened, and, when I do smoke, I don't feel particularly well. I have also noticed, even before the Wellbutrin, that that first smoke of the day seems to set in motion anxious and fearful thoughts. Strange. I am hoping that when I increase my dose of Wellbutrin to 300mg, I will be able to quit completely. I have also read that smoking can actually diminish blood levels of ADs, particularly, I think, TCAs.

Link, if you are looking for something to give you the type of energy, focus and motivation that coffee tends to give people, but minus the coffee jitters, perhaps you might do well on Yerba Mate. I recently bought some Yerba Mate tea, but haven't tried it yet. It is, apparently energizing and helps with focus, concentration and motivation, yet is supposed to be a smooth effect and not the jolt and drop that coffee often gives.
