Hi KT8 and others,
Effexor did really help me with my anxiety for years. It took a couple of weeks to kick in though. I'm also med sensitive and took only 37.5 -50 mg. My main side effects were dry mouth, some constipation at first, anorgasmia at first, tinnitus (ringing in the ears, which never went away). My appetite was lower but I still gained weight around my midsection, mostly in the lower abdomen. I'd probably still be on Effexor if it hadn't pooped out after 4-5 years. Getting off it has been awful. The anxiety returned much worse than it had EVER been before. I'm still struggling with that and it's been three months now.
When I was on Effexor, my emotions were much blander. I couldn't cry. No intense highs or lows. But it was worth it for the 4-5 years it helped me.
Hope this helps.
Marsha
