Top dosage of Lamictal

I once heard from Stephan Stahl ( a psych guru) that noone needs to take more than 100mg twice a day for Lamictal. Has anyone else heard that? Is it just a waste to add more--my psych wants to up the dose from 150 twice a day and I am afraid about that. Thanks? Sorry so many questions in one day
