Thanks guys. I wrestled with it for a long time. Thinking I was not 'messed up' enough for such 'extreme measures'. My depression is not psychotic or horrendously suicicdal or anything...Just stubborn and enduring! Turns out ECT is not extreme at all. Actually a very interesting process.

I think it kicks in my meds that ordinarily don't really work much so that I only need it once in a while. Amazing how after 3 the third time, a couple days pass, and then everything seems so different. The color comes back into life. Really weird. I was expecting Cuckoo's Nest, but I have more memory problems when I take a sleeping pill than an ECT treatment. No side effects either. My weight is down, and my sex drive is back to "I can feel it and think about it" status. Now I will admit that the first time I had it done in 2003, I started with a bilateral. That kind of knocked me around for a couple days, but the unilaterals seem virtually innocuous except for a some muscle aches that day which advil seems to clear up readily.
