> Kara, this is wonderful news!!! Please keep us posted. I'm so happy for you! I do have a few questions. . . You mentioned your rapid heart rate. Is it possible that Doxepin is causing that? I had very rapid heart rates all day and all night long on all TCA's, even at low doses.
That's a good question. I guess it's possible but he didn't think that such a low dose should do that. I'll be able to check it again once I'm off of the doxepin (and I'm not taking a beta blocker).
>Also, your doctor said Omega-3 FA's can function like Neurontin. Can you elaborate on that? Did he mean that they act like mood stabilizers? Neurontin was touted as having mood stabilizer properties, but I thought it had turned out to be quite a disppointment in that respect.Unfortunately I can't elaborate on the Neurontin comment. I don't know for certain why he mentioned Neurontin rather than one of the standard mood stabilizers but I suspect it has to do with what he has observed directly from the qEEG scans. I will have to ask him that next time I see him.
> One last question: You mentioned having brain scans. Do you know what kind of scans you'll have? SPECT? PET?
I also don't know how the brain scans he takes compare to SPECT or PET or BEAM. All I know is that they are called digital qEEG scans and that the information they take is fed into a database. The process of feeding this information in to the database is called rEEG. There was a post a little while back that compared the various brain imaging forms but I'm too lazy to try to find it.K
