I discovered that low dose prozac was effective when I first started it, because I ignored the instructions and used the mix-it-in-orange-juice trick instead. The first day I took about a 5mg sip, and that was plenty. I couldn't imagine doing 20mg. Eventually, months later, I did work up to 20mg. I can do fine at 10mg, but 20mg is overall better for me. But when I first started, I could definitely feel 5mg big time.
