Hi:
In my opinion, ... if both of you have NO problem of taking 'Topamax,' then no need to worry about. At the beginning of my participation on Bp Support in the Internet(six years ago, then not this site/board), I used to 'enjoy' reading others experiences particularly, in terms of med./med. combo., due to my own 'curiosity' about Bp med./med. combo. along with my 'battle' med. serarch. One lady with Bp(seems severe form with rapid cycler), she used to mention about her 'successful' med. combo, Zyprexa(high dosage), Topamax, Neurontin and one more(I can't recall, due to the time). In reading, I see most of Topamax takers seem NO problem on it. Then, if it were me, I'd never question myself as long as it works OK, although I never took one. Luckily, I can take any sort of med./med. combo, except SSRIs. Then, my pdoc. never put me on Topamax, believing that Topamax is a kind of 'add-on' mood-stabilizer, at least from the reading. I took Depakote and Lithium as for M.S.s, and no problem while on them. For me, Lithium seems the best M.S. and most likely take as long as I can.In regard to your daughter's problem, ... 'like walking around egg-shells while she's home' ... my 'good' guess is to be a depressive side of her Bp. She may need to increase its dosage, ... or need one more AD to 'boost' more AD effect on her depression. In my case, Zyprexa is a big help in this area.
It sounds to me like your Bp is milder than your daughter's, that makes you confused. There is an exact same dx, Bp, but still seems to have some 'difference' between two of you, in regard to med. adjustment/dosage, ... or to need one more AD for your daughter.
At your next appt., you need to talk to your/your daughter's pdoc. openly and honestly in her current situation.
H.G.
