Hi,
Increased self-esteem and hypersexuality can definatly be part of hypomanic episodes. If you like, there's a good book to check out called "Surviving Manic Depression" by E. Fuller Torrey. and Michael Knable. To quote them a little "Increased self-esteem is the third major manifestiation of mania. In the hypomanic state, according to Custance, "the normal inhibitions disappear." and "Increased sexual activity is also common. As Jamison observed, "sensuality is pervasive and the desire to seduce and be seduced irresistible."
But there is more to a hypomanic episode. Dr. Ivan's Depression Central is a good place to look on the web. If you think you are getting hypomanic, talk to your pdoc ASAP! It could spiral down into depression or up into true mania. Only your pdoc can tell what's really going on.
What meds are you taking?
Good luck!
