Effexor dose increase-Is six weeks long enough!?

I've been on Effexor XL since Nov last year.
Six weeks ago I increased my dose to 225mgs.
It doesn't seem to have helped, as I still have periods of feeling really miserable, also it doesn't seem to have helped my anxiety.
The question is, have I given myself enough time.
I could ask my doctor to switch me to Lofepramine.
Aaargh I'm so undersided
I stopped taking Clomimpramine in the past, and now I regret it.
