I have never heard of anything so ridiculous! Why didn't you go to another pharmacy? They're all addictive, but only if you abuse them. I know the AD's are supposed to help anxiety but if they even do it's after weeks of use in most cases. In the meanwhile a lot of pdocs Rx a Benzo to help you. Personally I think ativan is better than xanax. Although they both have a short half-life ativan seems to last longer and is used in the hospital IM to calm down an out of control pt. I'm so sorry you feel so bad. Give your pdoc a call. He may want you to start on the Effexor more slowly, or Rx a less activating AD. Fondly, Phillipa
