Effexor and Hypothyroidism

Can Effexor cause Hypothyroidism or mask it?.I became hypothyroid after stopping Effexor but maybe that was just a coincidence as i had been feeling fairly bad anyway.Incidentally Effexor didn't work for me but just made me lethargic and so laid back i might as well have been asleep!!Anyone got any thoughts on this topic please?
