In reply to starting Wellbutrin--what to expect, posted by jessers11581 on March 28, 2005, at 17:00:47
I took Wellbutrin 150 mgs. a few years ago to counteract the sleepy side effects I was getting on Lexapro. I was able to tolerate the WB nicely with the Lexapro back then...it helped my concentration, depression and I was more energetic. However, ultimately I went off the Lexapro and I had trouble tolerating the WB without it ( anxious, hostile, aggressive). I just tried the WB sr a few weeks ago (combining it with Prozac 20mg. and Eskalith 450mg.) I was so anxious and hostile..I had to stop. Perhaps if you have something calming on board (which the Lex was for me) you could tolerate the WB.
Let us know how it works out.
> Well, I saw a new psychiatrist today and she wants to me to try Wellbutrin (again). I have had bad experiences with it in the past-- mainly with becoming very anxious, nervous, worried, emotional, etc. But at the time, I wasn't taking very much SSRI in conjunction with it. My new doc wants me to supplement my 15 mg. Lexapro with 75 mg. daily of Wellbutrin for a week, and then increase the WB dose to 150 daily. Is there anyone out there on a similar combo? Can anyone tell me what I can expect? I'm a little nervous, since I definitely remember feeling crazy the first time I tried using WB. But I really want to be able to take it, because lack of sex drive and overeating are two of my biggest problems right now. Can anyone honestly say that Wellbutrin helped to increase libido and/or decrease appetite, especially for sweets? That would be awesome. Thanks!
