In reply to Effexor XL experience, is this normal?, posted by The_Resistance on March 20, 2005, at 15:37:24
It's certainly worth calling your doctor to discuss the issue...
I'm not a big fan of self-prescribing, because a lot of these meds are emphatically NOT better at higher dosage. What's more, any dosage change is going to take a while to make itself known -- what happens in the first 24 hours ain't likely to be the final word on it.
As for higher doses causing anxiety, that's one of those "your mileage will vary" questions. What I can tell you is that Effexor XR alone did not bring my depression under control, and I was quite anxious and agitated during the period I was taking only Effexor XR at 225mg. It took adding an augmenting dose of another medication to work for me.
My advice is to contact your doctor and talk about what changes can be made. I know that in my case, Effexor XR did leave me needing a nap in the afternoon, but again -- your mileage will vary.
