hey! You can medicate away the symptoms of akathisia, but I'd seriously recommend either reducing the dose of the med(s) causing it or stopping the med(s) involved altogether. Really, its JUST NOT WORTH IT, and some research seems to indicate that tardive dyskinesia (the dreaded movement disorder caused by neuroleptics) and akathisia may be caused by the same drug-induced brain abnormalities; one study I read showed higher rates of TD in those who exerpienced bad akathisia (which yours certainly is). But...here are some anti-akathisia meds: benadryl, propranolol, and the benzos (ativan and Klonopin are the big ones...it seems as if Ativan is used more often in people with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders, while there is a preference for Klonopin in bipolar and other mood-disorders...personally, I say take your personal favorite).
