I think you're talking about propranolol, too...its also known as "Inderal" (at least in the US) and is available in immediate-release and extended-release forms. The drug was designed for and is used for lowering blood-pressure. However, it has shown itself useful in anxiety, tremors, headaches, and, experimentally at least, akathisia. I took propranolol for akathisia from high-dose Abilify; basically, the propranolol kills off shakiness, jitteriness, and helps some people with anxiety. Some docs (like mine at the time) use it in conjunction with other anti-anxiety meds (it seems to boost benzos, for instance). Side effects can include worsening of depression or, more rarely, a whole new depressive episode.
