What's the difference between SR, XR, XL, etc?

Posted by Minnie-Haha on February 7, 2005, at 16:28:53

When meds are labled SR or XR or XL, is there a difference? I mean does slow release mean the same as extended release, etc? For instance, what's the difference between taking Wellbutrin (or the generic Bupropion) and Wellbutrin XL? Say you took one or the other in the morning. Would the former be more likely to make you irritable/anxious during the day? Would the latter be more like to interfere with getting to sleep? Any other pros/cons?
