Hey Phillipa:
Yes, IMO it's the STRONG antihistamine affect of Remeron. Antihistamines dry up secretions in moist tissue like nose, eyes and lips.

When I was on Remeron I had to drink water all the time! I had to keep reminding myself to drink, because I didn't really feel very thirsty.

Your body may adjust after a while.
Keep that full water bottle handy at all times!
