> I am interested in finding out if it is harder to quit Effexor the longer you have been on it, withdrawls, long term damage, how long did it take. I see people have been on it for many yrs. and I can't imagine. I'm on it 8mos. and my try at cold turkey was almost unbearable, I don't want to feel like that for months. I'm getting the impression some posters are are spending months getting over withdrawls. scarey stuff. I'm used to detoxes that can't take longer than 7 days! Any post will be appreciated and I will check and reply often. I've posted on some other threads on effexor if you care to check my experiences so far. Thanks, Medhed.
I was on it for almost 5 years but I didn't quit cold turkey. I reduced dosage EXTREMELY slowly. Then I added in a small amount of Cymbalta at the end. I suffered a couple of bad days that I wouldn't have had I taken the Cymbalta a couple of days earlier. Overall, it was relatively painless. I imagine that if I hadn't started on the Cymbalta that it would have been hellish.I'm skeptical as to whether it's worse once you've taken it for several years versus several months. I think that once your body is primed for it, then you have to have it. Period.
