Ativan vs Rohypnol

My wife is a chronic pain sufferer who no longer gets relief from Lortab, oxycotin etc...
I want to let her get 4-6 of oblivion during a severe outbreak of Ramsy Hunt Syndrome.
I tried 4 mg of Ativan, but it just made her sleepy and she remained cognisant.
I've heard Rohypnol would knock her out, but I don't want to mix it with alcohol.
What are the effect of Ativan vs Rohypnol, and will Rohypnol knock her out without alcohol ?
