Hi Jeff:
I totally agree the Zyprexa causing 'weight gain.' In my case, I started to crave for 'sweetened drinks,' such as 'Pepci,' 'Orange/Grape Soda,' even 'Cool-Aid' with plenty of sugar(one cup of "real' one). However, for some reason I have NEVER increased 'appetite,' ... still the same amount of meal, even seems 'decreased food consumption.' In my guess, the change of my food intake has something to do with anti-depressants I've been on, in conjuction with the Zyprexa and the Lithium which also has a reputation of 'weight gainer.'My anti-depressants regimen, Bupropion SR 300 mg. and Trazodone 225 mg.(before the bed) helping me to stay 'almost' the same weight although I gained around 15/20 lbs. after the Zyprexa 5 mg. since the fall of 2001.
Then, in my suggestion, ... if you're able to take at least one of ADs, particularly Bupropion SR(the generic form of Wellbutrin SR), there is NO worry about 'weight issue.' Talk to your pdoc. at your next appt.
H.G.
